In Loving Memory of Zashaun Espinoza
March 16, 1999 - April 30, 2025
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we honor the life and legacy of Zashaun Espinoza, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose spirit shone brightly even in life's darkest moments. Born on March 16, 1999, in Avondale, Louisiana, Zashaun was the treasured son of Kerry Brown, Jr. and Bertha Espinoza, and a proud member of a large, close-knit family who brought him deep joy and unwavering strength.
From an early age, Zashaun demonstrated a quiet resilience and a heart full of hope. Baptized at Life Center Cathedral, he was rooted in faith that carried him through every season of life. A graduate of John Ehret High School by way of determination and grit, he later earned his GED, refusing to let any challenge define his future. In every step he took, Zashaun sought to rise higher, to grow stronger, and to be better-not just for himself, but for those he loved.
Zashaun's love for family was the rhythm of his life. He was a brother who encouraged, a son who honored, and an uncle who adored and protected his nieces and nephews like they were his own. Whether sharing laughs in the living room or offering a word of comfort when things were tough, Zashaun's presence brought peace. He found great pride in family gatherings and valued every bond that tied them together.
A gifted athlete, Zashaun lit up the football field at Johnny Jacobs Playground, where he and his teammates earned championship titles and lifelong memories. Beyond the game, he carried that same spirit of teamwork and perseverance into the workplace at Loup Linen, where he was known for his reliability, his work ethic, and a smile that could brighten anyone's day.
Zashaun lived with humility and grace. Life was not always easy, but he faced every trial with courage and quiet strength. He didn't seek attention-he simply lived with purpose. His compassion was sincere, his laughter contagious, and his loyalty unshakable. He had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Kerry and Bertha, his grandmother Shirley Espinoza, his grandfather Kerry Brown, Sr., and his devoted siblings: Zyrah, Nhoja, Jonyanna, Jawine, Unique, Jayden Espinoza, and Kerryelle, Kerrick, KiRee, Kaorie Brown, and Kerry Leagea. He also leaves behind eight adoring nieces and nephews, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends-including his uncle, Pastor Damian J. Brown, and Francis Espinoza (Alicia)-all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
Zashaun now rests in eternal peace, reunited with his paternal grandmother, Diane Davis, and great-grandmothers, Vonne Davis and Bertha Harris-a heavenly homecoming that offers us comfort amid the pain.
Though Zashaun's time on earth was brief, his life was filled with meaning. His story is not one of sorrow, but of strength, love, and triumph over adversity. He taught us how to keep going, how to love deeply, and how to rise above. His legacy lives on in every life he touched, and his light will never fade.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Little Zion Baptist Church 433 Avondale Garden Road, Avondale, LA 70094.
