It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Lewis Jr., who left us on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 55. A beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather. Walter touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and infectious spirit.
Walter was born on May 24, 1969, to Betty Ceaser Lewis and the late Walter Lewis Sr. He was raised in New Orleans and graduated from Alfred Lawless High School class of 1988. He was a proud alumnus of Alfred Lawless High School and Louisiana Tech College. Walter built a respected career in the electrical industry, working with Triad Electric Controls Inc., and later at Industrial Electric Company.
A man of many passions, Walter was a cherished member of NOLA DJs Incorporated, where his love for music thrived. His enthusiasm for riding was equally strong, participating in several bike clubs across the region. On weekends, you could often find him enjoying camaraderie and community as a devoted member of the Grown Men Tailgate Club. He was also a former member of High Fidelity DJs, Tru Riders, 9th Ward Riders, and ODB.
Above all, Walter treasured his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Betty Lewis; his three sisters, Sandra (Edward) Jenkins, Trina (Whitney) Williams, and Chrishon Lewis; and his children, Walter Lewis III, Lakenna McKeel, and Mone't Lewis, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He was also the adored grandfather to LaKe'n and LaKenya McKeel and Jerle' na Brady, whom he cherished deeply.
Walter will be remembered for his warmth, laughter, and the love he shared with all who knew him. Though he has left us too soon, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
