Walter Charles Black, Jr., known affectionately as "Walt" or "Walter Charles," peacefully departed from his earthly journey on May 9, 2024. Born on April 9, 1982, to Walter Charles Black, Sr. and the late Joan Marie Dixon Black of Marrero, LA. Walter brought warmth and love to all who knew him. He was cherished as a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend.
Walter's educational journey took place within the Jefferson Parish School System, where he cultivated knowledge and friendships that would endure a lifetime. His early baptism marked the beginning of a spiritual journey that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
In the hearts of those who loved him, Walter leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy. He is survived by his father, Walter Charles Black, Sr., his sister Michelle Black Glover (Donald), four nephews, one great niece, one great nephew, and a host of relatives and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Though Walter is now reunited with his mother, Joan Marie Black, his sister, Janeen Black, his grandparents, Robert and Doris Dixon, and Walter and Harriet Black, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held in honor of Walter Charles Black, Jr., on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00AM, at Israel Baptist Church, 1612 Esther St. Harvey, LA. The visitation will begin at 9:00AM offering an opportunity for loved ones to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable soul. Pastor Darryl McKinnies is the host pastor, and Pastor Leander Johnson of the Historic True Vine Baptist church of Westwego, LA officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Avondale LA.
