Tijwana Ragas Obituary

Miss Tijwana AJita Ragas also known to everyone as "Jita" passed away at the home of her brother in Gonzales, La. On April 24, 2025. She was born on September 19, 1981, in New Orleans, La., Beloved daughter of Mervin Ragas Jr. (Gaynell), and the late Cassandra Edgerson. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Joseph N. Taylor at the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. Jita, as she was affectionately known to many, loved to praise and worship the Lord. Wherever there was a church program, funeral or convention, Jita would beat you there, standing boldly as the door keeper. She never owned a car and didn't know how to drive; she didn't miss much. She was a strong woman of God who dedicated her life severing our Lord Jesus Christ. Jita's favorite song was Walk in the Light, and her favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11.

She served faithfully as an Usher at her church, and she was a member of the Christian Ministers Missionary Baptist Association (CMMBA), for many years serving on the Usher Board, Women Ministry and a Counselor with the Youth Regional Department. Due to losing her home at the devastation of Hurricane Ida, Jita relocated near her father and family in Port Athur, Texas. While living there she soon united with Greater True Vine Church under the leadership of Pastor Jarrod F. Phillips, Sr. while there Jita didn't JUST sit idle, she became a member of The Pastor's Aid Committee, The Love Committee, Women's Ministry and Prayer Warrior Ministry. She was a Solider for the Lord.

Jita never met a stranger and if she did, she would get your number, and it was on! Calling just to say hello. She loved the talking on the phone spreading the gospel and "TEA" at the same time. She never owned a car but would beat you to every church program, funeral or even conventions, she traveled with the (CMMBA) Regiojal Youth Conference every year. Whether in Oklahoma, Texas or Louisiana. We know she'll be greatly missed at the upcoming conference.

Tijwana is survived by her father Mervin (Gaynel) Ragas, Jr., brothers, Jordan, Alexander John, Agernon James Edgerson, Mervin (Nina) Ragas Ill, one bonus sister, Chancel Hymes, stepbrothers Donnell Joseph and Xavier Turner. She's also the niece of Elana (Greg) Parker, Deidre (Marvin) Mackey, Ericka (Bruce) Gains, Jeovannah, Cashara, Eldrich (Charlotte), Elton(Bridget), April Edgerson, Christopher (Nita) Ragas and Relita Frankin. God mother of De'Janai Hinton.
