Sylvester Edwards Sr passed away peacefully at his home in New Orleans on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
He was 87 years young. Sylvester was born on November 22,1937, in ltta Bena Mississippi. He was a resident of New Orleans.
Sylvester was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Lillie Mae Edwards from ltta Bena Mississippi. Bro. Edwards was preceded in death by his Parents Robert Edwards and Lillie Mae Dixon, Step-Father Willie Dixon. Three Daughters Miranda Edwards (Leonard), Debra Edwards and Vanessa Edwards. Brothers Woodrow Dixon (Dean), Emmett Edwards (Gerria), Robert Edwards Jr. Sisters Lena Mae Dixon, Janet Edwards Brooks, Ruth Ann Edwards, Mother-ln-Law Eddie Mae Hall, Father-ln-Law Walter Hall Sr; Sister-ln-Law Lillie Mae Southhall, Brother-ln-Law Charles Anderson, Louis Hall, Arthur Hall, Ex-Wife Lula Mae Edwards, Granddaughter Precious Phenice Edwards and Son-ln-Law Fredrick Leonard Sr. Brother Edwards
leaves to cherish his memories his Wife Dorothy Edwards, two daughters Lisa Quinn Green (Richard), and Kizzy Edwards, four children by his ex-wife, Sylvester Edwards Jr (Gail), Luvone Edwards Perry (Bernard), Perry B. Edwards (Paulette), and Billy Edwards (Deongelas). Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at New Genesis Baptist Church located at 3316 Second St. New Orleans LA. 70125.

The visitation will begin at 9AM followed by a 10AM service. Pastor Malcolm Putman will officiate. Interment will be private.
