Russell Anthony Barrois passed away on February 1, 2018 at his home in Buras, Louisiana. He was 88 years old and a lifelong resident of Buras, Louisiana. He was a D.T.R. Legend to say the least. His friends say “he was a gentleman among the ladies and a man among men.” He was a lover, a fighter, an athlete, one amazing cook. Just an all-around jack of all trades. At the age of 17 he began a career working in the oil field to care for his mother and younger siblings. Later he became a business owner of the Old and New Buras Saloons where many friends and memories were made. He held a hard hitter title of at least 150:0. Russell was a 1947 jitter bug champ. He later would teach his family what it was like to go shrimping in the bayou. Many people will remember him as one of the kindest men that would give his own shirt off of his back to help a friend in need. This man truly was a hero.
