Robert "Big Rob" Sidney Gordon

Robert Sidney Gordon who was known to many as “Big Rob” was born on July 4, 1959. Robert was the fifth child of Maggie Lee Gordon with Roosevelt Gibson. Robert was raised by Maggie Lee Gordon and John Gordon. He was born in Lexington, MS. He spent his early childhood in Detroit, MI. He finished his education in the New Orleans school system after relocating here in 1976.  Robert departed his earthly life on June 16, 2022.

Robert was preceded in death by both his parents, Maggie Lee and John Gordon and his biological father, Roosevelt Gibson. Robert leaves to cherish his continued legacy through his daughter, Cindy Lee Alexander and three grandkids, Mia, Toni and Antonio. His sixteen sisters, Ella Jean Greer, Willie Mae Lewis, Rosie Ann Gordon, Mary Lee (Robert) Robertson, Cherry Rean Gordon, Carline (Anthony) Bass, Almaline (Joseph) Hayes, Annie G. (Charles) Brown, Dorothy Burnside, Ella Williams, Margarett Gibson, Beverly (Alvin) Couto, Valerie Pittman, Caroline Jackson, Charlene (Darrell) Martin, Jamie (Kenny) Johnson, and two brothers, Roosevelt Gibson, Jr., Kelvin Martin, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, at Gentilly Baptist Church located at 5141 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122.  The visitation will begin at 9 a.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m.  The family will also receive guest for a visitation on Friday, June 24th, 2022, at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 LA – 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037, from 6 – 8 p.m.

Due to COVID – 19, it is recommended that everyone in attendance wear a facemask or other proper facial covering.
