Richard Lee Williamson

Richard Lee Williamson Sr. peacefully transitioned from his earthly life unto eternal life on Friday, June 9th, 2023, at West Jefferson Medical Center with his wife and family at his bedside. He was born on Tuesday, January 30th, 1940, to the union of the late Nailor and Edna James Williamson. Richard was lifelong resident of Port Sulphur LA. until relocating to Carencro LA. after Hurricane Katrina. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Winnie Lee Ragas on Saturday, May 11, 1963. To this union five children were born; Richard L. Williamson Jr. (Maureen), Gina L. Williams (Christopher Sr.), Evangeline, Jarvis and Derrick Williamson. Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Richard III (Mallory), Marcus, Renata, Christopher Jr. (Natascha), Chrisshawn, Christal, Christon, Chrishard (Kayla), Christie, Sequence, Saquenca, Saquetta, (Cary), Anthony (Breanna), Everette (Chiaki), Ce'Stacia, Carmen, Jarvis Jr., Derrielle, Derrin and Derrick Jr. He also cherished his 25 great granchildren. He had a special bond with his Godchild Paula Riley and was also the Godfather of Celeste Jiles.
Richard always had a smile on his face and greeted everyone in a warm way. He commanded the room with one word. If you knew him, you knew he was straight up and cut no corners, but that's what made everyone love him even more. He graduated from Sunrise High School, attended Southern University and worked for Freeport for thirty seven years. He loved football and was a die hard Saints fan.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife Winnie Lee Ragas Williamson, his children, grand and great grandchildren, sisters and brother in law; Doris Turner, Ella Riley, Marvel Parker, John Ragas Sr. (Gwendolyn), Charles Ragas (Cynthia) and Albert Ragas (Elaine), as well a several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. He was predeceased by his parents Nailor and Edna Williamson, his siblings; Luella (Rev George)., Hewitt (Mary), Ruby (Thaddeus), Edwin, Osgood (Odile), James (Leotha), Alvin (Emelda), Bernice (Andrew Sr.), Emily (Walter Sr.), Agnes (Irvin Sr.) and Octavia (Herman) and grandchildren Joseph and Derryonna.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Port Sulphur Baptist Church located at 27080 LA-23, Port Sulphur LA. 70083. The visitation will begin at 9AM. followed by a 11AM service. Rev. Burgart Tuner is the host pastor and Dr. Darnell Smith Sr. of the Greater St. Peter M.B.C. will officiate. Interment will follow in Roxie James Cemetery also in Port Sulphur.
The family will also receive guest on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 LA-23, Belle Chasse LA. 70037 from 6:30PM until 8:30PM.
