Pernell Rita Denet

Pernell Rita Denet transitioned from this life early Tuesday morning, May 14, 2024, at her home in New Orleans, she was 69 years old. She was a proud 1972 graduate of Buras High school in Buras, Louisiana and a 1978 graduate of Xavier University Louisiana. She was a dedicated civil servant for the City of New Orleans for 31 years. She held many supervisory positions in city government such as working in the department of Youth and Family Services, Property Management, and finally the Administrator of Juvenile Court. She was a native of Boothville, Louisiana and daughter of the late Edward and Estelle Rodgers Denet. Beloved wife of Frank Payne, Jr. Devoted mother of Jacque Anthony Denet Sr. (Shavoi), and Preston Denet Payne. Cherished grandmother of Timberly Hancock, Jacque Anthony Denet II, and Jazz Amir Denet. Loving sister of Emelda (Late Felix) Encalade, and Ella Mae Mackey. She was proceeded in death by her brothers, Ronald Denet (Geraldine), Sherman Denet, and Jerrold Denet Sr. (Late Melinda). Sister-in-law too, Ernest Bobby Coleman, Theresa Hill, Michelle (Gerald) Coleman, Felecia Johnson, Maria Payne, Lakeisha Payne, Patrice (Mitchell) Lofton. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, 4 God Children and loving lifelong devoted friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 12pm at the Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery, 35736-35748 Hwy 11, Buras, LA 70041, where Father Kyle Dave of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Belle Chasse LA. will officiate.
