In Loving Memory of Nora Lee Owens
Born on April 11th, 1949, to William Thomas Sr. and Mrs. Rosie Lee Owens in Detroit, Michigan, both have preceded her in death. Nora Lee Owens was the firstborn from this grand union, followed by four siblings (Brothers) PaPa, Robbie, and (Sisters) Bonnie and Bebe, all have preceded her along with her eldest son Cornell Owens, and her spiritual Mother Dolores Weir.
Nora Lee had many different loving nicknames, such as Tiny, Bonquisha, Keisha, Dranny, Maw Maw, and Mama. Throughout her life, she learned and mastered many different crafts, such as cooking, carpentry, sewing, reupholstering, and many more. Her spiritual journey began as a child at "Little Rock Baptist Church" in Detroit, Michigan, and she attended, in recent years, "New Beginning's Outreach Ministries," in Indiana. In her leisure time, Nora loved to spend her time shopping at the Goodwill, watching classic films on Turner Classic Movies, listening to gospel music, and traveling with her children.
Her love of traveling led her to New Orleans, where she proudly and lovingly made it into her home.
On December 12th, 2024, after a long battle with ALS, she finally succumbed to her disease, marking the end of her remarkable journey of life. She leaves to mourn, love, and honor her memory of seven of eight children: Cornell (who preceded her death in 1993), Diane, Deborah, Edward, Robert, Deshirae, Michelle, and Gregory. Her Grandchildren Cornell, Cordell, and Cornisha Owens. Anton, Anthony, Angelo, and Ashley Meeks. Ciera, Quierra, Kenneth, JuRod, and Stephaun Bailey. Tashara, Edward, Rhne'asha, Trevion, Jamar, Emani, and Davine Owens. Maliasha, Jacob, and AzaRian Owens.
Jala Joelle Owens. Micah Owens and Alan Jones. Asia and Gregory "RJ" Owens. Her spiritual sisters Yvonne Wise, Sarah Gomez, and Erma Williams, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service which will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna for 12 noon. Bishop Kenneth Bailey officiating.
