Michael Anthony Florent Jr. "Mikey"

Michael Anthony “Mikey” Florent Jr., was born on January 16, 2002, to the delight of his loving parents, Nicole Johnson and Michael Anthony Florent Sr. Michael was a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. He was 19 years old.

Michael was a caring, intelligent, and ambitious young man. In his primary years, he attended school at Martin Behrman Charter School, where he thrived as a member of the band. Mikey was a proud graduate of Edna Karr High School class of 2020. He was an active participant on the football team and band. At the time of his passing, Mikey was an honor student at the University of New Orleans. He was a sophomore majoring in Computer Engineering. Michael loved photography and producing music. He had a talent and an eye to create art that inspired and evoked whatever emotion he was trying to convey. His entrepreneurial aspirations led him to develop his own clothing line and business; ELOCIN, affectionately named after his mother.

Michael was a member of the National Honor Society, The Silverback Society and the Men of Honor.

Mikey had visions and dreams of traveling the world. He was always known to display and infectious smile. He could make others laugh with a quick “Ribbing” session or by dancing. Mike had a personality that would light up the room when he entered. He was very compassionate, giving, and determined to leave his mark on this world.

Left to cherish his memory is his father, Michael Florent Sr., his mother, Nicole Johnson, his siblings, Curtchelle Barker (Kenneth) and Curtrell Barker, and his grandmother Beauty Florent-Colbert. His aunts and uncles, Michael Jackson, Vera Wilson (Reginald), Gelinda Gouisha (Claude), Demetrius Cotton (Ernestine), Samatha Magee (Anthony), Denise (Louis), Aaron Johnson (Dionne), Troy Johnson, Mark Johnson (Lakeisha), Derrick Johnson, Daniel Johnson (Sue), Chene Johnson, Nell Toomer, Lynette Wilson (Greg) and Terri Lawrence. He is the godson of Mark Johnson, Calvin Tate and Tomoro Wilson. God brother of Terry Francois, Tyrone Nash, and Ashley Dixon. He is also survived by his companion; Tonjanique Ruffin and a host of other family members relatives and devoted friends.   

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Aaron Johnson, Luevina Johnson and William Florent, uncle, Gregory Cotton, aunt, Deborah Cotton and Godbrother Melvin Meredith.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2022, at True Hope Ministries located at 1228, Cohen Street, Marrero, LA 70072. The visitation will begin at 8 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Lori Walker officiating, and interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Avondale, LA.
