Mary Ann Green Obituary
Mary Ann Barthelemy (Mimms) Green entered eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2022 at The Carpenter House in New Orleans LA. surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 16, 1947 in Point-Ala-Hache LA. and was a longtime resident of Terrytown LA.
Daughter of the late Percy Eugene and Lovenia Williams Barthelemy. Beloved wife of 39 years to the late Milton Green. Devoted mother of Erica Mimms Francis and Ronald Mimms Jr. Grandmother of Ryan Marshall and Taron Mimms. Sister of Jerry (Louise), Al Eugene (Francis), and Joey (Rolanda) Barthelemy. Niece of Joseph (late Doris), Simon (Courtney), and Oliver (Tiffany) Barthelemy, Ollie Thomas, Mercedes Geurin, Louise and Alice Barthelemy. Sister in law of Earline Sanders, Glenda, Enell, Robert (Essie), Earl (Ernestine), Enos (Joann) and Ronald Green. Devoted friend of James Bentley and longtime friend of Beverly Ladmirault who was always there when she needed her. Mrs. Green was predeceased by a new born son and daughter as well as 2 infant brothers Donald and Ferdinand Barthelemy. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friend.
Mary Ann’s education began at Domangue School in Davant LA. and was completed at Phoenix High School where she graduated in 1964. In 1970 she graduated from Charity Hospital School of Surgical Technology and worked in that field until 1985. In 1985 she also graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux LA. and received a degree in nursing. She would then work as a registered nurse for the next 30 years. In 2010 she retired from Ochsner Hospital Westbank but soon became restless and bored at home and decided to return to nursing in 2011 by providing care to patients at two area nursing homes as well as the Community Health Care area until retiring again in 2017. In 2013 Mrs. Green was baptized at the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in Bertrandville by Pastor John Riley and served on the deaconess board for many years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church located at 7047 Highway 39, Braithwaite LA. 70040. The visitation will begin at 9A.M. followed by an 11A.M. service. Pastor John Riley will officiate. Private interment will follow the service.
