Mary Helen (Holmes) Johnson

Mary Helen Holmes Johnson also known as "Helen" or "Mae Helen" by her family and friends was born on Thursday, January 16, 1941 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the union of the late Veniel and Ardella Lundy Holmes. She departed this life on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at her home in Marrero LA. She was 82 years old.

Devoted wife of the late Lavern Johnson. Beloved mother of Diane J. Dumas (Curtis), Levon Johnson (Perrilynn), Dorothy J. Johnson, Donna J. Swan, Doris D. Gilbert (Johnny), and Deidre A. Johnson. Sister of Betty Holmes, Earnest Holmes (Ella) and Leonard Holmes (Faye) all of Jackson Mississippi. Sister in law of Lizzel Jackson of Atlanta Georgia. Mrs. Johnson is also has 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Ardella Lundy Johnson, her siblings; Eva Mae Jones, Charles Edward Holmes, Earl Nathanial Holmes and Dennis Ray Holmes, her grandchildren; Cornelius Morton Dumas, Donna Darenda Morton and Lavon Johnson Jr.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church located at 1419 4th St. Westwego, LA. 70094. The visitation will begin at 8AM followed by a 10AM service. Pastor Woodrow Hayden will officiate and entombment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale LA.
