Mary Ella Young Bridges of Avondale, LA. was born on December 16, 1950, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi and peacefully transitioned from this life to be present with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2026. She was the beloved daughter to the late Preston Young Sr. and Hattie Mae Young. At an early age, Mary accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in faith.
Mary shared a remarkable 56-year marriage with her devoted husband, Eugene Bridges. Their union was blessed with two sons, Minister Jo Nathan Bridges and Deacon Terrance Bridges Sr., of whom she was extremely proud.
While her loved ones mourn her passing, they will continue to celebrate a lifetime of cherished memories. She leaves to honor her legacy; her husband, Eugene Bridges; her sons, Jo Nathan Bridges (Ann), and Terrance Bridges Sr. (Tanginita); her grandchildren, JoQuise Bridges and Terrance Bridges Jr.; her siblings, Walter Young and Preston Young, Jr.; her sister-in-laws, Hazel Thomas and Marie Banks; along with a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Hattie Mae and Preston Young Sr.; her brother, Hardy Walker Sr.; and her sister, Dorothy Ann (Dot) Smith.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at New Zion Christian Family Worship Center 5040 Taravella Road, Marrero LA. 70072. The visitation will begin at 8AM followed by a 10AM service. Pastor Cornell Bridges is the host pastor, Bishop Samuel Travis Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
