Marla Gaye Ragas passed peacefully into the presence of the LORD and Savior on Saturday, February, 24, 2024 at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank Campus. She was 56 years old and a native and lifelong resident of Port Sulphur LA. Marla was proudly employed as a Correctional Officer with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriffs Office.
Beloved daughter of the late Mervin J. Ragas Sr. and the late Theresa McGinnis Ragas.
Loving mother of Chancell Hymes, Theo Holmes Sr., De'Janai and Aaliyah Hinton. Memaw of Chandler, Ariya, Rayna, Theo Jr., Tanner, Daxton, and Layne. Sister of Mervin (Gaynell) Ragas Jr., Elana (Greg) Parker, Deidre (Marvin Sr.) Mackey, Christopher (Nita Fay) Ragas Sr., and the late Starla Raye. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of Port Sulphur, LA, surrounding churches and employees of Plaquemines Parish Sheriffs Department, Plaquemines Parish School Board, Daybrook Fisheries, FedEx, Cascades at Senior Care and Rehabilitation, and City of Port Arthur, Texas, are invited to attend funeral services at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church 27796 Hwy 23 Port Sulphur, LA on Saturday, March 2, 2024. The visitation will begin at 12 noon followed by a 1PM service. Reverend Mandrel Pansy Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Memorial Park in Empire.
