Malcom Williams Obituary

Malcom C. Williams was born January 5, 1951, to the union of Clarence Clyde and Leona Fletcher Williams. He departed this life on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the VA Hospital in New Orleans, LA. He was 73 years old.

In his youth, he was a faithful member of St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church and he later joined New Hope Baptist Church. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and finished at Big Ben College. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the Army. While in the military, he was stationed in Germany and was grateful for the opportunity to see the world. Upon returning home, Malcom married Gail J. Williams on March 22, 1975, and from this union was born three children Malcom Williams, Jr, April Williams, and Cornelius Williams. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Clyde Williams, his son Malcom Williams Jr, and his mother Leona Fletcher Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gail Williams, his daughter April Williams (Jason Johnson), Cornelius Williams, two sisters, Terry Lewis (Lionel) and Greta Jackson, brother Randy Williams, three grandchildren, Simue'l, Denzel, Ja'cory, Delisha Jackson, nieces: Diana Jackson, Jabari Jackson, and Brandi Anderson, nephews, and a host of colleagues and friends. Malcom retired as an operator from New Orleans Regional Transit Authority in 2007 after 30 years of service. He then joined Clover, formerly Kingsley House, as the Driver and Program Assistant for Clover Cares Adult Day Program. He remained in that position for a total of 16 years. Malcom C. Williams was Wildman Mackie of the Creole Wild West Indians. He was a member of the Black Men of Labor, Arts & Cultural Club. Malcom's infectious smile, warm demeanor and boundless enthusiasm resonated with everyone he encountered. His memory will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service which will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church located at 1807 Rev. John Raphael Jr Way, New Orleans, LA 70113. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Jammal Weathersby officiating, and entombment will follow at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA at a later date.
