Mable Augustus "Brown Eyes"

MABLE “BROWN EYES” AUGUSTUS, was born on September 1, 1934, in Phoenix LA. and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans LA.

Daughter of the late Henry and Josephine Williams Augustus. Sister of the late Joseph (Mable), Julian (Ester), Henry (Anzell), Phillip (Eloise), Archie (Audrey Mae) and Benjamin Augustus, Jannie (Robert Sr.) Smith, Josephine (Ernest) Payne, Martha (Joe Sr.) Riley, Dorothy (Milton) Coleman and Mary Augustus.

Mable graduated from Phoenix High School and Southern University at Baton Rouge with a master’s degree plus 30 hours. She was a very compassionate person always willing to help anyone she could. She was well loved and respected by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories are her substitute children; Milton Coleman Jr. (Mable)., and the late Donald Coleman, Lavern, Carnel, Henry Sr., and Henry Lafrance Jr. and four generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends of the Phoenix community.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church located at 156 St. Joseph Lane, Phoenix LA. 70040.

The visitation will begin at 9A.M. followed by an 11A.M. service.  Pastor Nadel Cosse’ will officiate and entombment will follow in the Cook Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, everyone in attendance must wear a facemask or other proper facial covering.
