Louise Ethel Griffin Handy

Louise Ethel Griffin Handy, age 89, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 31, 2018 in the comfort of her home in Gretna, La surrounded by family. She was born on October 13, 1929 to the late Jonas Griffin and Hester Larvinette Griffin. Beloved mother of Irvin Handy Jr. (Nancy), Gwendolyn Mcknight (Michael Sr.), Jennell Handy, Carnell Darensburg (Reginald) and Marvinell Brown (Gerald). Godmother of Joyce Williams Encalade, Evelyn Thomas, June Picquet Bienemy, Gilbert Cross, Joshua Williams Jr., and Dennis Ragas. Deceased also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Beatrice (Mable) Williams, Jenny Griffin, Delores Cross, and Herbert Griffin and one great grandchild; Ja’Rian Sonjae Brown.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Greater Providence Baptist Church and all neighboring churches in Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parish, staff and employees of Nami Inc., United Bulk Terminal, Impala Burnside Terminal, Trans Development, GATE Entergy Companies, Chevron-Texaco Production Company, and Jefferson Parish Department of Water Works are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church located at 1738 L.B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA. Rev. Doctor Norman Francis host pastor and Pastor Oliver Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale, LA.

The family will receive guest for a visitation on Friday, January 11, 2018 at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 Highway 23 Belle Chasse, LA 70037 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
