It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Milner Smith, who peacefully entered eternal rest on December 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 6, 1947, and spent most of her life in the city before relocating to Slidell in 2006. Linda's life was marked by her unwavering love for family and friends. She was known for her warm smile, playful spirit, and a heart full of kindness. A true lover of life, Linda enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with those she held dear, often surrounded by her beloved grand pets. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grammy," and was always ready for a friendly card game or a challenge with a puzzle. Her competitive nature was matched only by her love of learning, whether she was engaging in a lively game of cards or solving complex puzzles. Her occasional spunky demeanor and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Linda's ability to find joy in simple things and her caring, nurturing presence will be missed by all who know her.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Ernest J. Smith III; her children Darren Smith (Melissa), Courtney Mine (Derrick), and Ernest Smith (Amy); and her cherished grandchildren Austin Lachney, Blaze Smith, Braeden Mine, Katie Smith, and Drew Smith. She also leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heritage Manor of Slidell and Notre Dame Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Linda's final days.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at a later date.
