Larry Huelen Cannon, Sr., native of Oakville, LA, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Medical Center - Westbank on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born on August 24th, 1949, to the late Delores LaFrance Williamson and Huelen Cannon. Father of Nicole Cannon (Saul Vinning), Larry (Channon) H. Cannon Jr., Evangeline C. Duncan, Chelsea M. Sinclair, and Derak T. Mayfield. Grandfather of Charles J. Alston, Christopher (Shaquina) J. Alston, De'Chel R. Sinclair, Denarius J. Mayfield, Khalil, Torrain and Harmony Cannon, Laneisha (Stacey Sr.) Lott, Rickey Levy Sr., Debbie Levy, Jahi Cannon, Nina Duncan. Great Grandfather of Mya & Aziel Melendez, Jeremiah I. Alston, Karmyn, Kacey & Stacey Lott Jr., and Rickey Levy Jr. Larry is survived by his brothers, George W. Lafrance, Randy Williamson (Zildria), Jerry L. Cannon (Lee), and Tracy M. Williamson; and sisters, Cheyenne Burns and Penny Avist. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Perry Avist and Oliver D. Cannon, sisters Peggy Avist and Janet Jefferson and brother-in-law Elder James Burns Sr.
Larry was a veteran, he proudly served in the US Army. After serving in the military, he worked as a truck driver.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Robinson Family Funeral Home of Belle Chasse, LA. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., and the service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Darnell Smith of Greater St. Peter B.C., officiating and interment will be private.
