Landa Serena Smith Henry

Landa S. Henry was born on November 13, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana and departed this life on June 2, 2025 at the age of 78, at her home in Westwego Louisiana.
In her early school years, she attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and completed her education at Walter L. Cohen Sr. High School. In the mid 70's Landa started her career in the healthcare field where she was employed by Baptist Hospital, East Jefferson Hospital and West Jefferson Hospital for over 30 years.
Landa was a beloved and devoted member of the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Her strong Christian beliefs were a guiding light throughout her life. She was a resident of Westwego, Louisiana for 54 years where she built a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter.
Landa leaves behind cherished memories and is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Ronald D. Henry, Sr. who has stood by her side through every chapter of their shared journey. Born in that union was Ronald, Jr., (wife Simone); Betty M. Henry; Angela C. Henry; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents Gilbert and Murdis T. Smith, three brothers, Gilbert, Jr, Earl and Lenord Smith and three sisters Rita J. Kelly, Charlotte M. Jones and Brenda Smith.
Landa's presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but her legacy lives on through the cherished memories she created with her family and friends. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2025 at Broadway Missionary Baptist Church, 121 Alvin Calendar Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation is from 8-10am. Service will start at 10am. Dr. Cornelius Tilton will officiate and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Westwego.
