Kirk Dugue Obituary

Kirk Louis Dugué, was born on July 27, 1976 to the late Melvin and Catherine Dugué in New Orleans, LA. He transitioned to glory in New Orleans, LA on October 2, 2023.
He was educated in the New Orleans Parish Public School System. As a teen, he worked for The National Urban League of New Orleans and NASA Michoud Assembly Facility.
A couple years after graduating, he moved to Maryland, where shortly after, he met the love of his life, his wife, Natalie. From this union came, what he called his heartbeats, Dakota and Leah Dugué.
Kirk was a genuine man, with a soft heart. He was the ultimate family man and worked hard to provide a great life for his family. Early on, he got into construction because he liked working with his hands, where he quickly gained lots of skills. Because he's a fast learner with great work ethic, he quickly became the supervisor, but he wanted more. He worked two jobs and went to school all at the same time to become a licensed engineer. He enjoyed working for Marriott International as an engineer for the past 17 years.
Kirk was a lovable, kindhearted, God-fearing individual. Everyone he met was drawn to him and felt the need to keep in touch or become his friend. He was always in good spirits, with an unselfish heart and wanted the best for everyone. He had a good sense of humor, was silly and made being at home a joy. We looked forward to going home each day because he always made it fun to be together. Kirk was once told, " If someone dislikes you, something is wrong with them." His spirit was infectious, but at the same time, he was very, very, very protective of himself, wife and daughters. It was the only time you'd see another side, which most never saw. He was an extraordinary, dedicated father and husband.
In 2018, Kirk was diagnosed with a genetic kidney disease called Polycystic Kidney Disease caused Kidney failure. In 2019, he was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor that was simply removed and has been cancer free since. He has been through a lot and was a tremendous fighter. He did everything right, and was in tip top health, besides the kidney disease which he managed well without complications. Over the past 4th of July weekend, he was hospitalized with a blood infection acquired through dialysis. After his 2 weeks stay, he was put on a 6-week course of antibiotics, and come to find out in the end, it was the strong antibiotics that destroyed the kidney functions he did have, which made matters worse and cause things to build up in his system which led to his untimely demise. What makes this so sad, is that he was so very close to getting his kidney transplant.
Kirk was a true man of God. He would pray and talk to him every morning and on his way to work. Kirk was a fashionable guy and grew up as a trumpet player who loved listening to music, the New Orleans Saints, cooking, building things, his dog Roscoe and most of all, spending time with his family. All he wanted to do was, all of the above with his family, he felt he needed nothing else, its what made him the most happiest. Mission accomplished.
Kirk was preceded in death by his father Melvin Dugué and his mother Catherine Dugué. Kirk leaves to forever and always cherish his loving memories, his wife Natalie Reddix-Dugué, his 2 daughters, Dakota and Leah Dugué. Three sisters, Valecia Porter, Terry lyn Jones and Keshondra Dugue. One brother Melvin (Chrysell) Dugué. Six Nieces and nephews Quocha Molier, Terrell Dugué, Cambria Young, Brielle Dugué, Amelia Dugué and Chase Dugué. Two uncles Charles (Lana) Jones, Reginald Dugué. Two aunts, Augustine Graves and Emelda Brooks. His best friends who were his brothers, preceded in death Derrick Castine. Clifton Stewart, Brian Smith, Justin Freeman, Robert Valentine and a host of cousins and friends.
