Joyce Helen Johnson Lewis

Joyce Helen Johnson Lewis a resident of Gretna, Louisiana entered her eternal rest Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age of 85.   Joyce is the daughter of the late Sidney Sr. and Lillie Johnson. She is the wife of the late Rev. Joseph D. Lewis Sr., sister of the late Sidney T Johnson Jr and the late Dr. Joseph B. Johnson, sister-in-law of Geraldine Mansion, Ernestine Lewis, LaVerne Green and Barbara Rosenberg. Joyce is survived by her four children, Karen E. Lewis, Joseph D. Lewis Jr., Muriel Lewis Breaud  and Gary M. Lewis Sr.,  fourteen  grandchildren; Ateja D. Lewis (Frank), Terral K Lewis. Sr.  (Amber), Delvin J. Lewis Sr. , Darren C. Lewis (Jamani), Kristy L. Martin (Derrell), Joseph D. Lewis III, Keenan G. Lewis Sr., (Dannel) , Jarvis D. Lewis, Gary M. Lewis Jr., Tiffany P. Lewis, Garron M. Lewis Sr., Aijanae T. Lewis, Taryn Gaines, and Giavonni M. Lewis, twenty four great –grandchildren  a son- in law  Leon Breaud , a daughter-in-law Greta Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May, 5, 2018 from 8:30am until services begin at 10:00 am at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 922 Estalote Ave, Harvey, LA 70058. Rev. Louis Brooks Harrison officiating.   Burial will immediately follow at McDonoghville Cemetery. Relatives and friends of the family, officers and members of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, members of the New Orleans Police Department, Faculty and Staff of Martin Behrman Academy of Creative Arts and Sciences, McMillian First Steps Academy, Weatherford Academy are invited to attend the funeral services.
