Josephine Clara Sylve Brooks transitioned peacefully at her home on Friday, July 2, 2021. She was 80 years old. Josephine was born on February 18, 1941, in West Pointe A La Hache by a midwife to the union of the late Morris Sr, and America Sylve. On November 24, 1962, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, the late George V. Brooks Sr. To their union 8 children were born, George Jr, Randy Sr, Bradford, Christopher, and Melissa Brooks all of Belle Chasse, LA, Timothy Brooks, of Moseley, Virginia, Shelia LeBlanc of Luling, LA, and Karen Ramsey of Belle Chasse.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, 5 devoted daughters in law, Quita, Yolanda, Rayna, Dalien, and Therass Brooks, 2 sons in law, Joseph LeBlanc and Julius Ramsey. 24 grandchildren, George III, Dawana, Raven, Randy Jr, Bradley, Brandon, Peyton, Christopher, Julius, Nicholas, Brion, Jaylen and Brynen Brooks, Chris Jr, Kerchten (Angie), and Krista LaFrance, Jalyn, and Jarel LeBlanc, Braelyn, Myron, Kyron, and Kaylyn Ramsey, Ariana Ellis, and Randi Ancar.
Sister of Nelson (Shirleen) Sylve, Adam (Joyce) Sylve, Carrol Sylve Sr, Michael Sylve Sr (Doris), Emmett Sylve Sr, & Janet Sylve, the late Morris Sylve Jr, the late Clarence Sylve, and the late Mary Jane Duplessis. Sister in law of Catherine (Dave) Butler, Pastor Joseph A. Brooks, Clifford Brooks Sr, Clinton Brooks, Juanita Brooks, Ernest Prout, the late CeCile and Cedra Sylve, Jacqueline Jackson, Ruth Jones, Audrey Prout, Marceline Allen, Martha, Beaugard, Alfred Jr, Irene, Patsy, Margarite and Ada Brooks. Daughter in law of the late Alfred Sr, and Mable Brooks. Devoted friend of Grace and Clement Parker and Jackie Johnson. Childhood best friend of the late Almena Sylve. Godmother of Patrice Gail Agbiboa of Gary, Indiana.
She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers and members of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Naomi, employees of Plaquemines Parish Government, State Oil Fuel Center, Jeanfreaus’ Ace Hardware, Inclusiv Care, Heitmeier Eyecare, International Marine Terminal, Stericycle, Tim Trucking LLC, T – Mobile, New Orleans VA Hospital, are all invited to attend the celebration of life services on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church located at 14747 LA – 23, Belle Chasse LA 70037. The celebration of life service will begin at 10 a.m., and the visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Pastor Joseph A. Brooks officiating and interment will follow at Bayhi Cemetery.
The family will also receive guest for a visitation on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Robinson Family Funeral Home located at 9611 LA – 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
