Obituary
Joseph Oscar Ragas "Buddy" "Governor", departed this life peacefully on Monday, August 7th, 2023 at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero LA. He was 82 years old and a native and lifelong resident of Port Sulphur LA.
Son of the late Samuel and Mary Andry Ragas Sr. Husband of the late Marilyn "Peterice" James Ragas. Devoted father of Yolanda R. Brown (James Sr.), Carla Ragas, Ivy "Patrice" Ragas (Arthur), Cedric Ragas Sr. (Shanda), Raquel R. Jones (Bernell III), Danielle Logan (Carl), Passion Gaines and the late Wynette Williamson. Brother of Eunice Williams, Janice Ingraham, Ruby Trufant, Betty Espadron and the late Samuel Ragas Jr., Geraldine Ragas, Barbara Prout, Michael Ragas Sr., Gerald Ragas and Bobby Lynn Ragas. Joseph is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 28698 LA-23, Port Sulphur LA. 70083. The visitation will begin at 9AM followed by a 10AM Mass. Father Gerard Stapleton will officiate and entombment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
