Joseph "Pumpkin" Crump Jr.

Joseph “Pumpkin” Crump Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero La.  He was 75 years old and was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA.

Mr. Crump was a retired longshoreman having worked for Hayes Dockside Inc. / Cooper T. Smith Corporation for 30 years.  He also retired from the former Metropolitan Developmental Center in Belle Chasse, LA.  He was also a very proud member of the Saint Joseph Missionary Baptist Church of Marrero, LA where he served as an usher and was a member of the male chorus as well as the feeding the hungry ministry.

Beloved son of the late Florence Coria Halley Crump and Joseph Crump Sr. Devoted husband of Sandra Burrell Crump. Loving father of Vendetta Honore, Garnet Crump, Darius Crump and Demetris Antoine. Stepfather of Tara Brooks and Kionne Brooks. Brother of Debra Crump Grows, Brenda Crump and the late Ronnie, Juanita and Marva Jean Crump. Deceased also survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

Relatives and friends of the family also Pastor officers and members of  St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church Sixth District, president and cabinet members of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association and all of its affiliated Pastors and churches as well as staff and faculty of  L.W. Higgins High School, the staff of professionals from West Jefferson Medical Center (that cared for him while he was hospitalized there) and former employees  Metropolitan Developmental Center, Hayes Dockside / Cooper T. Smith and Normal Life  are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church located at 236 Robinson Ave. Marrero, LA 70072 at 10 a.m. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Melvin C. Zeno, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in McDonoghville Cemetery in Gretna.
