Johnaton Louis Sr. was born on March 5th, 1963, to the union of the late Norman Louis & Maudry Stewart.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at 10 years old and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Vacherie, La., by the late Rev. Lucian R. Garrett.
Johnaton attended Magnolia Elementary, 6th Ward Elementary and St. James Jr., High School of Vacherie, La. At the age of 14, he relocated to New Orleans, LA., where he continued his education at Walter L. Cohen Sr., High School.
John, as he was affectionately called by his family, began his career at the Monteleone Hotel where he met the love of his life, Ms. Josephine (Josie) Montgomery. They were united in Holy Matrimony on March 5th, 1994. To this union a son, Johnaton Louis, Jr. was born, and he was blessed with (2) bonus sons, Michael and Anthony Calvin. He furthered his career at The Columns Hotel, then he moved to the Military Naval Base where he worked as a Building Manager for 20 years until he became ill.
John never met a stranger; everyone loved him, and he loved everyone back. John was the life of the party, wherever he went his family and friends wanted to be there also. He was the glue that held his family together. A sweet, kind, humble spirited, and soft - spoken person, and a true comedian at heart. As much as he loved to eat, he also loved to cook.
Spreading love to everyone he encountered was truly a part of his life path. John didn't stop with his family, his undeniable love, compassion and consideration for others was felt by friends, neighbors, co-workers and throughout the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, as he frequently visited.
John leaves to cherish his memory and legacy; his devoted wife, Josephine Louis and (3) loving sons, Johnaton (Desiree) Louis, Anthony (Audriana) & Michael (Jessica) Calvin, (4) granddaughters; Makaria, Myrihanna, Briyanna Calvin and Aniya Louis.
John also leaves to cherish his memories, his (2) Sisters whom he adored, Roslyn Louis Landry of Marrero, La., and Saconda Stewart- Rice of New Orleans, La. A bonus sister, Betty Ann Brown-Markee (Robert) and a bonus brother, O'keefe Brown (Kimberly). (4) Sisters-in-law, Dale Moore (Clarence), Marilyn Owens, Rhonda Clay (Gilbert), Rochelle Wright, (2) brothers in-law, Aaron Montgomery (Ladine), Solomon Montgomery (Shantell). (1) Devoted Uncle - Enoch Stewart (Darrel Ann), (4) Aunts, Evelina Sam of New Orleans, La., and Amelia Donald (Earl) of Harvey, La., Betty Stewart (James) and Merita Victorian (Raymond) of Vacherie, La. To further cherish his memory, John leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, co-workers and a very devoted friend, Mr. Lionel Owens.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Norman J. Louis (Maggie) & Maudry Stewart-Brown (Paul). His Maternal Grandparents, Morris & Celestine Stewart, his Paternal Grandparents, Raymond & Elbertha Lewis, Niece - Juanitra LaShaun Warren, Father & Mother In-Law Solomon & Flimedee Montgomery Sr., Brother-in -Law, Michael A. Landry, Sister-in- Laws, Pandora Minor & Gale Montgomery and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness located at 3031 Behrman Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70114. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Brother Ramon Doucette will officiate and entombment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, La.
