John Harris Obituary

With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of John E. Harris Sr., who departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
John was born on February 15, 1943, in Copiah County, Mississippi, to Ceasar Harris and Mary Jane (Green) Harris. From a young age, faith was his guiding light, and he embraced it wholeheartedly as a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Utica, Mississippi. He attended Hines County Public School, where he laid the foundation for a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and family values.
Affectionately known as "43," John was a man of quiet strength, deep wisdom, and a heart as vast as the Mississippi skies. He found joy in life's simplest pleasures-hunting in the great outdoors, casting a line while fishing, and the freedom of the open road in his beloved dump trucks. But above all, his greatest happiness came from the love of his family, whom he cherished beyond measure.
John leaves behind a legacy that will continue to flourish in the hearts of those he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nicole Perkins Harris, and his beloved children: John Christopher Harris (Sandra), Lasharne Harris, John Edward Harris Jr., Alissa Perkins, John Perkins Stevens (Leroy), and Kylyn Perkins. He was a proud grandfather to Jayaun Harris, Bria Bass, Jordan Harris, Jason Harris, Jasmine Harris, Justin Harris, Kentrell Perkins, Kaylyn Perkins, Kyilee Perkins, Anijah Perkins, and Aur'jin Perkins, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jay Harris Jr., Harmonee Harris, Zaiden Malcolm, Jason Harris Jr., Carter Scott, and Christiyaun Craig.
John's love extended beyond his immediate family. He is lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Nedra Ann Sheridan, father-in-law, David Michael Perkins (Olanda), sisters-in-law, Mamie Curtis Harris, Mary Harris, Ena Sheridan, Anjelica Sheridan (EJ), and brothers-in-law, Leon Sheridan Jr. (Brittny) and Barron Sheridan (Angel). He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends from Jackson, Mississippi, Marrero, Louisiana, and Toledo, Ohio, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is now reunited in eternal peace with those who preceded him in death: his loving parents, Ceasar Harris and Mary Jane (Green) Harris; his brothers, Luther Harris, RJ Harris, Andrew Harris, and Amos Harris; his sisters, Della Mae Harris, Pearline Harris, Ruth Harris, and Katie Bell Harris; his dear grandchild, John Edward Harris III (Studa); and his sister-in-law, Lula Harris.
John's unwavering love and kindness will forever be a guiding light for the generations he helped shape. Though he is no longer by our side, his spirit will live on in every cherished memory, every story told, and every life he touched.
As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that John's journey does not end here. His love endures, his presence lingers in our hearts, and his legacy will never fade.
Rest in eternal peace, John. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed.
