JACQUELINE “JACKIE” BERNICE HENRY SIMIEN, was born on Wednesday, January 28, 1953 to the union of the late Lloyd Henry and Beulah Brown. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at her home in Marrero LA. Jackie was a graduate of L.W. Higgins High School and received two Bachelors of Arts Degree; one in English and the other in Spanish from Southern University at New Orleans LA.
Jackie was a soldier for the Lord from an early age beginning with Sunday school at St. Paul Baptist Church. She was baptized by the late Rev. Daniel J. Powell at Regular Baptist Church on Easter Sunday morning, April 10, 1966, where she served faithfully for over 55 years. She was known throughout the community as a powerful “Prayer Warrior” who was always willing to offer up “a little prayer”.
Jackie was employed as a teacher in both Orleans and Jefferson Parish schools. On various occasions she found shelter in the homes of several family members and friends not limited to Sandra Ponson, Desareese Black Jones, Barbara Black and the late Jacqueline Crosby.
GOOD NEWS: Jackie can now “Sit at his feet and be blessed”.
She leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at Regular Baptist Church located at 901 5th Street, Gretna La. at 10A.M. The visitation will begin at 9A.M. Pastor T.A. Hodge will officiate and interment will follow in McDonoughville Cemetery located at 520 Hancock St. Gretna LA.
Due to covid-19, everyone in attendance must wear a facemask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing.
