Israel (Ike) Ragas, 82 years of age, passed on February 14, 2024, at the V.A. Hospital. Ike was born on August 18, 1941, to the late Reverend Victor and Virginia Evans Ragas. Ike graduated from Sunrise High School in 1960. Upon completing high school, Ike enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 6 years. In 1966 he received an Honorable Discharge and spent the next 22 years in Brooklyn, New York. He was employed by Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center as the Head Boiler operator. He returned to Louisiana in 1979 and began working for Chevron Oronite as Head Batch Operator for special chemicals. He retired after 21 years.
Ike is the former husband of Maria Lewis Ragas and to this union he is the proud father of Brandon Ragas and stepfather of Lisa Alfonso. Ike is also the proud father of Angela Niblett.
Ike was brother of Emese, Emma, Emilia, Ethel, Earlie, Virginia Ann, Lydia, Peggy, Benjamin, Victor III, Charles and Fredrick.
Ike has 3 godchildren that adored him, Tracy Ragas, David Lewis III and Devin Montgomery.
Ike leaves behind to cherish his memories his children, grandchildren, siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Please join us in celebrating his life on Saturday February 24, 2024, at Robinson Family Funeral Home located at 9611 LA_23, Belle Chasse LA. The visitation will begin at 8:30AM followed by a 10AM service. Pastor Troy Gause of Cross community Church of Marrero will officiate, and entombment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna.
