Obituary

IRENE WILLIAMS MARTIN departed this life peacefully on Saturday July 10, 2021 at Capital Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baton Rouge LA.  She was 82 years old and a native and lifelong resident of Narin/Empire La. until relocating following Hurricane Katrina.  “Ms. Irene’” as she was affectionately called was retired food service supervisor for the Plaquemines Parish School Board with over 30 years of dedicated service.

Daughter of the late Joe Edgar Williams and Rose Mary Zenon Williams.  Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Martin Sr.  Devoted mother of Marilyn M. Duncan (Loyde Jr.), Cathy M. Taylor (Terry Lee deceased), Kenneth Martin Jr. (Monica), Danny Martin (Doreen) and the late Shonda Lynn Martin Revish.  Sister of Linda Taylor (Nathan Sr. deceased), Mildred Costict, Sammy Williams (Iris), Larry Williams (Faynell), Peter Williams (Sharon deceased), and the late Gloria Mackey, Sherner “Cheryl” Lafrance, Louis, Joe, Bernell and Raynard Williams.  Loving grandmother of Gabrielle Duncan, Loyde Duncan III (Jasmine), Yonneka Thurmond, Yonnel Jones (Rory), Tory Duncan (Heather), Laketha Johnson (Patrick), Teesha Martin, Ashley Martin, Dana Barber (Kenneth), Danny Martin Jr., Denver Martin, Shai Rene Martin, Micah Revish and the late Danielle Rene Martin.  Sister in law of Philomena Riley, Zachary Martin, Erroll Martin (Amy), Wayne Martin and the late Sammy, Frank, Johnny, Reginald, Sonny and Katherine Martin and Joyce McMillian.  “Ms. Irene” is also survived 17 great grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday July 17, 2021 at Robinson Family Funeral Home located at 9611 LA-23, Belle Chasse LA. 70037 at 11A.M.  The visitation will begin at 9A.M. Dr. Ronald Singleton pastor of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Empire LA. will officiate.  Dr. Theodore Turner Jr. pastor of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Boothville LA. will deliver the eulogy.  Entombment will follow in Tropical Bend Memorial Park in Empire LA.

Due to COVID-19, EVERYONE who enters the funeral MUST wear a face mask or other proper facial covering.
