Hazel Fields Obituary

Dr. Hazel B. Fields was born September 11, 1943, to Mrs. Mildred Berry Carter, in Greensburg, Louisiana. Hazel peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on November 30, 2024, at her home in Marrero, La.

She was born in Greensburg, but was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and resided there until 1988.
After graduating high school, she went on to achieve her credentials and degrees from Southern University at New Orleans to teach in the Orleans Parish School Board System.
She relocated to Marrero, Louisiana in 1989, where she resided for the past 34 years.

Dr. Hazel received a Bachelor's degree from Southern University, Nicholls State University and Christian Bible College at Louisiana.
She then went on to secure her Master's and then her Doctorate degree as well from Christian Bible College at Louisiana.
During her lifetime, she was blessed with five children: Ninnette (Fred) Toney; Nianda (Michelle) Green; Nina (Ronald) Boyd; Nigel (Tenagne) Fields, {Both are deceased} and Nivan (Stacey) Fields; along with 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Hazel is survived by three brothers, Warren Atkins, Jack Muse and Kerry Atkins, and two sisters, Yvonne Wilson and Lisa Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mildred, her brother Alvin, her sister Barbara, and her son Nigel.
She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends. Rest in peace Dr. Hazel B. Fields.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist General Association and other neighboring associations are all invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Second Zion Baptist Church located at 6520 Second Zion Avenue Marrero, LA 70072. The visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Bishop J. Nelson Brown is the host pastor, Rev. Dr. Ferdinand Wallace is officiating, and Pastor Nivan Fields will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale, La.
