Harriet “Ida Mae” Black (Gram) a resident of Harvey, LA passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the age of 90. She was born on April 7, 1932. She was a member of Holy Hill Baptist Church of Harvey. She was a dedicated employee of the Jefferson Parish School System for 35 years, and after retirement, a dedicated foster grandparent with Catholic Charities for an additional 22 years.
She is survived by her seven children Walter Charles Black, Vacheus Black, Daisy Brown, Marvin Black, Kenneth (Dana) Black, Cynthia Keller, and Catherine Black. She also leaves to mourn 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Black, her parents, Dinoli “Dinah” Parker, and Willie Nelson; all her eight siblings; her son, Zachery Black; her daughter-in-law, Joan Marie Black; and granddaughter, Janeen Black.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Israel Baptist Church located at 1612 Esther St. Harvey, LA, 70058. The visitation will begin at 8 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Johnny McKinnies is the host pastor, and Pastor Nathan Denis of Holy Hill B.C. officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, LA.
