Harold Lewis Jr. entered eternal life on March 20, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born May 30, 1947 to the late Theresa (John) Henry and Harold Lewis Sr. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Michael Lewis, William Lewis, Johnny Rae Henry and Oliver Lewis; two sisters, Louise Pierce and Theresa Evans.
Harold was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and became a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Army. His combat medals include two bronze stars with the "V" Device, the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and he was also a Member of The American Legion. Harold retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years. He owned Black Star International Inc., established in 1994, where it was granted licenses to import and export to Cuba and the Caribbean.
Harold leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Dianna Smith-Lewis of forty-seven years. His only two daughters, Shawana G. Smith and Wykia T. Lewis; two grandchildren, Nicholas C. Smith and Zayah M. Dixon; two great-grandchildren, Khy'leigh Smith and Kali Smith. He also leaves four brothers, Orville (Karen) Lewis, Kerry (Bobbianne) Lewis, Kevin Lewis, and Kenneth Alexander; three sisters, Olivia L. Common, Olive L. Magee, and Karen (Lawrence) Bradley; two brothers-in-law, Morris (Tina) Smith and James (Debbie) Smith; one sister-in-law, Dolores (Willie) East; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Robinson Family Funeral Home in Belle Chasse, LA. The visitation will begin at 8 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Reverend Booker T. Collor Jr., officiating and interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale, LA.
