Gloria Mae Smith, a resident of Plaquemines Parish was born November 16, 1940, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard and Grace Garrison Black. Gloria Mae Smith was the ninth child of ten children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend David Sullen. She graduated from Scottville High School, where she then moved to New Orleans and worked at Tulane Medical Center for over 25 years as a Dietary Supervisor. Gloria was a member of Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Leona and Grace Garrison Black. Six brothers Jake Black Sr., Leonard Black Sr., Issac Black, Lewis Black, Earl Black and Manuel Black Sr. Three sisters Easter Hunter, Gertie Black and Betty Sanders. Three sister-in-laws Bernice Black, Delores Black, and Lavern Black. One brother-in-law Arnolie Sanders. She was the loving mother of Stanley L. Smith Jr. (Renata Thomas-Smith), Bradford Smith, and Tor Smith (Nikkie Smith) She was the grandmother of Ebony, Sage, Shayron, London, Brittney, Maya, Malik, Myles, Maliyah, Mateen, Matiste, Khalia, Stanley Jr. and Trishon. The great-grandmother of Ah'Kylie, Cali, Genesis, Blaise, Kasch, Eltiana, Kordy, and 2 angels on the way. She also leaves behind two God-Children Nikita and Gregory.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 State Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037. The visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Joseph Brooks of Greater Morning Star Baptist Church officiating and entombment will follow at Bayhi Cemetery in Rushville, La.
