Gilbert Febure Ragas, Jr

Gilbert Febure Ragas, Jr. affectionately known as "Booboo" peacefully transitioned from earthly to his heavenly home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 5:47 p.m. at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 79 years old. Gilbert was born on October 3, 1943, to the late Gilbert, Sr. and Winnie Ragas.
He was a native of Port Sulphur, Louisiana. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Margaret Phillips Ragas. Gilbert was the father of nine; Dwayne Parker (Treniece), Clint Ragas (Carlette), Iven (Trinette) and Alvin Edgerson, Dwanna Riley (Avery, Sr.), Gilbert C. Ragas (Kimberly), Cynthia Bazile, and the late Troy, Sr. (Debbie) and Ian P. Ragas. Gilbert is the loving brother of Doris Turner, Ella Riley, Winnie (Richard) Williamson, Sr., Charles (Cynthia), Rev. John Sr. (Gwen), Albert (Elaine) Ragas, Marvel Parker, and the late Lois Katherine Chisel Riley. Gilbert was a loving grandfather of 25 and the great-grandfather of 17. Gilbert is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church located at 27796 Hwy 23, Port Sulphur, Louisiana 70083. The visitation will begin at 11A.M. followed by a 1:00 P.M. funeral service. Rev. Mandrel Pansy, Sr. will officiate. Interment Mount Zion Memorial Park, 32550 Highway 23, Empire, Louisiana, 70041.
