Geraldine Jenkins Webber

On January 31, 2025, Sis. Geraldine Webber was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 81 at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, La. G, Gerald, Gerry, Gata, and Maw-maw as she was affectionately known as, was born June 27, 1943, in Woodville, Mississippi to the union of the late William H. Jenkins and the late Rose M. Byrd-Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Samuel Jenkins, Francis Bethley-Jenkins, Charlie Byrd, and Celeste Johnson-Byrd.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and she served as a member and a Deaconess at Israel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend. Patton, the late Reverend Thomas Deal, Reverend Johnny McKinnis, and current Pastor Darrel McKinnies. She worked as a mother, CNA, housekeeper, and housekeeping supervisor (Lead) for 30 years until she retired in July 2005. She leaves to cherish her memories 3 daughters, Veronica A. (David) Stevenson, Anita M. Webber, Melvina (Timothy) Lafayette, and 1 son Ford H., III (Monique) Webber.

She also leaves to cherish her memories 4 granddaughters, Ishhneka "Nikki" (Ray) Jefferson, Jaymalisa (Jabarie) Baker, Rachel, and Hannah Lafayette. She also leaves 2 great-granddaughters Ky'Neisha "Doodie" and Ky'Raneisha "Putty" and one great-grandson Zaire. She also leaves to cherish her memories of her bonus daughter and son Angela (Larry) Ledet, and her loving caretaker Chenelle Preston.

She loved her family, always ending the call with "Call us if you need us" and always made time to call her neighbors and friends to check on them. Lastly, her favorite scriptures were Psalms 27, and John 14, and her favorite song was Amazing Grace.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery located at 3540 US - 90, Avondale, La 70094 for 10 a.m.
