Gene Lamont Childs Sr. "ROLLIE"

Gene Lamont Childs Sr., “Rollie” departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2021.  He was 50 years old and a native of Chicago, Illinois, and Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  He was a longtime resident of Harvey, LA.  “Rollie” as he was affectionately known to family and friends was employed by Domino Sugar Refinery.  He is the son of Gene Metcalf and Janice L. Childs.   

He is the beloved husband of Veanca Clarks – Childs.  Loving father of Gene Lamont Childs Jr., Brinae’ I. Childs, and Demond J.C. Childs.  He is the grandfather of Kinsley Childs, and Kyzer Childs.  Through marriage, he became the son of Bessie L. Stokes, and Willie “Bill” Clarks Jr.  He is the brother of William D. Childs, (Shavone), Thomas A. Childs (Yvette), and Tonya R. Childs.  Brother-in-law of L ‘Tanya Clarks Johnson and Brandon D. Clarks (Loresa).  Best friend of Bennie L. Davis, and godfather of Rodsheika Walker and Brandee’ Clarks.  He is the cousin and best friend of Patrick Petty, and his best female friend Karen Matthews.  “Rollie” is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of True Love Full Gospel Ministry, and all neighboring churches, employees of Domino Sugar Refinery, are all invited to attend the Celebration of Life services on Saturday, February, 20, 2021, at Willing Workers Baptist Church located at 2715 Washington Avenue, New Orleans La., 70113 at 10 a.m.  The limited visitation will begin at 9 a.m.  Pastor Melvin Jones officiating and interment will be in Rollie’s hometown in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Due to COVID – 19, EVERYONE in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing.
