Freddrick Ragas Obituary

Freddrick B. Ragas departed this life on January 16, 2021 at 8:45 pm.   Freddick was born on
Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943, to Reverend Victor Ragas Jr and Virginia Ragas.

Freddrick was a lifelong resident of Port Sulphur, LA and born in Potash LA. 

Freddrick was the Beloved husband of Barbra Jean Manuel and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.  To their union they have 3 children, Elke, Ingrid and Bjorn.  Freddrick is the loving grandfather of, Rhea, Gabrielle, Signy, and Nevaeh Ragas. Elijah, Isaiah and Thaddeus Wallace.  Two great grandchildren, Riley and Blythe Gaines.

Freddrick graduated from Sunrise High School in 1963.  He enrolled in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge.  Upon returning home he found employment with Freeport Sulphur and attended Delgado Community College.  Freddrick lived out his later years as a commercial fisherman.  He was also a member of the Fisherman and Concerned Citizens Committee.

Freddrick is survived by his three brothers, Benjamin, (Stella) Ragos, Isreal and C. Danny (Joyce) Ragas.  Three sisters, Lydia (David) Lewis, Peggy Ragas Matthews and Margie Smith.   Brother in law of Jerome Manual, Gloria (Linel) Wright, Judith and Brenda Manuel and Capricia (Michael) Powell, and Maria Ragas.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he adored dearly.

Fredrick was proceeded in death by his parents, Reverend Victor Ragas Jr and Virginia Ragas.  One brother Victor Ragas III and his sisters, Emma, Emese, Emelia, Earlie Mae, Ethel and Virginia Ann.

Freddie B. as everyone called him never met a stranger.  Everyone was always welcomed, especially when he was cooking.

Freddie B. was an artist, a musician, a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather!

As a musician, Freddie started playing the clarinet in high school.  He was also self-taught on the piano, trumpet and the guitar.  He was the member of several bands including Danny & the Delltones, The Salvadors, Heat Inc. and Quiet Storm

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday January 30, 2021 at the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church located at 27796 Hwy 23, port Sulphur La. at 10A.M. The limited visitation will begin at 8A.M.  Pastor mandrel Pansy Sr. will officiate.  Interment will follow in Fisher Cemetery in Port Sulphur La.

Due to COVID-19, EVERYONE in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering and practice social distancing at all times.
