Franklin Smith

Franklin "YaYa" Smith was born on July, 31, 1952 to the late Rev. Jessie Smith Sr. and the late Mary Grant Smith, and was welcomed back to heaven on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
YaYa has a host of relatives and friends that preceded him to glory including his parents, ten sisters, four brothers, his son Franklin Smith Jr. and his grandson Frank Bedell IV. Left to cherish the memories and wisdom he blessed this earth with for seventy years include three sons Edmond Smith, Gerard Smith and Wendell Washington, five daughters Ariane Jones Ashley (Reko), Chadsity Blackstone, Angela Smith-Nicholas (Eric), Lyonna Dorsey of Houston Texas, and Kye Harrisson of Baton Rouge LA. He is also survived by his siblings Rev. Harry A. Smith, Rev. Percy Smith, Rev. Jessie Smith Jr. (Kathy) of Arizona, Edward Charles Smith, Robert Smith (Iona), and Gloria Young, his grandchildren, Jaylen Blackstone, Aniyah Bedell, Jordan Bedell, Chad Bland, Dylan Smith, Caela Smith, Khole' Smith, Kylie Smith, Edmond Smith Jr., TeSean Hayes, Savannah Washington, Jewlz Edwards and Kai Cierra Edwards, one great grandchild, Island Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Isrealites Baptist Church located at 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, New Orleans LA. 70113. The visitation will begin at 9AM. followed by a 10Am. service. Pastor Emanuel Smith is the host pastor, Rev. Karry Smith of Atlanta Ga. officiating. Interment will be private. Repass following the service at Handsome Willy's Cafe located at 218 S. Robertson St. New Orleans LA. 70112.
