Obituary
Eulalie (Eula) Marie Zeno Morton was born November 16, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023 at the age of 78 in her home, surrounded by her loving family in Gretna, Louisiana. The second child of Herbert Zeno Sr. and Elverine Osborne Zeno, and the granddaughter of Bazile & Eulalie Lemieux Osborne and George & Mathilda Lee Zeno, she is survived by her siblings Warren Zeno Sr. of Marrero, Louisiana, Bazile (BJ) Zeno of Omaha, Nebraska, and Phyllis Zeno Coleman of Maricopa, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her siblings Betty Ann Zeno George, Herbert (Zeke) Joseph Zeno Jr., Gregory (Skinny) Zeno, and Rodney (Bee) Zeno.
Eula was the niece of Lawrence (Pennie) Osborne, Ernestine (Nesstine) Osborne Dejean, Emma Dell Osborne Favorite, Earl Osborne, Ruby Zeno Howard, Albany Zeno Sr., Stanward Zeno Sr., William Zeno, Olivia Zeno Joseph, Mary Zeno Wallace, and Rosemary Zeno Smith.
Baptized in the Catholic faith and dedicated to her religion, Eula loved St. Joseph the Worker Parish and family.
Eula was a proud 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School in Marrero and loved everything related to Lincoln, including getting together for reunions with other alumni.
After high school, she married Willie (Billy) Morton and they had two sons, Barrett Morton and Sunday Morzeno (fka Bradley Morton), who were her pride and joy. They settled in Marrero, where Eula was a doting mother and then had a variety of careers outside of the home. These included being a graduate of cosmetology school, a popular and award-winning Avon saleswoman, and she was a Certified Teacher's Assistant for children with disabilities for Jefferson Parish Public School System from where she retired.
After her retirement, Eula became a sitter for those who needed support and an advocate. She was passionate about doing what was right and treating those who needed help with dignity and respect.
Her first son, Barrett, married Jenitra LaFrance Morton in 1987 and they had Eula's one and only granddaughter, Tiffany Morton, who Eula adored from the day she was born. In 2016, her younger son, Sunday, married Eve (Cookie) Waldman in Santa Monica, California. She was proud of her sons and their accomplishments, often referring to them as her babies no matter what their age.
Eula adored her siblings, who were influential in her life, no matter how close or far away they lived. She would travel to see them or enjoy long conversations on the phone.
Her immediate and extended family were also a gift to her, with cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as Godchildren playing an important role in her social life from a young age.
You could always find Eula at a casino where she could sit for hours playing penny slots or enjoying the buffets; but she also loved playing Bingo, Po-Ke-No, and catching her MITS bus en route to the Jefferson Senior Center for events and camaraderie. She enjoyed Mardi Gras annually with the Zeno family on St. Charles Ave, usually decked out in her favorite color - purple. And you could often get into her good graces with anything Tweety Bird or coming up with a funny joke or story to make her laugh. Eula will also be remembered for her exquisite penmanship, which was displayed in her thoughtful letters and meticulous and careful notes.
Eula's sly smile, her ability to tell a good story, and make people feel special will be missed by all.
