Eugene Edward Williams was born on October 9, 1947, in New Orleans, LA to Shabe Edward Williams and Oralee Williams. Eugene Passed away peacefully at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA on December 10, 2024, due to complications of diabetes.
Eugene was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in May 1965 and was a member of B.T's Basketball Team. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and trained as a medic during the Vietnam Era. After his military tour, Eugene enrolled in technical college and graduated as a practical nurse. Eugene worked at Tulane Medical Center for many years as an x-ray technician. Later, he worked in home health services as a home health care nurse and formed his own health care bathing service.
Eugene loved family gatherings, music and enjoyed singing and dancing. His hobbies included volleyball in which he played against other teams around the New Orleans area. Later in life, Eugene became an avid painter and was part of many art shows throughout the region. He was affectionately known as the "Man who Paints Flowers". Eugene was very funny and all who knew him remember one of his favorite sayings, "Fool around like I say."
In 1981, Eugene became a member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR). He joined the Holy Name Singers Choir and led the song "Trouble in My Way." He was introduced to Yahweh-Elohim and embraced Dr. Henry C. Kinley as God and his savior. He learned that we are spirit-beings living physical experiences and that grace and mercy is necessary for a complete exchange.
He leaves to cherish in memory: His 3 daughters: Stephanie Williams, Kimberly Williams, Erica Williams; Stepson: Erica Nicholas; Brother: Gary Williams (Georgia); Sister: Debra Williams; Nieces: Ajumoke James and Lashonda Roberts; Companion: Dottie Girod and a host of family and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Shabe Edward Williams and Oralee Williams and brother Reginald Williams.
Eugene life and presence left an indelible impression on all who knew him, and his passing will always be remembered not as an event of sorrow but rather a celebration of life.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 LA-23, Belle Chasse LA. 70037. The visitation will begin at 9:30AM followed by an 11AM service. Interment with military honors will be held on Friday January 3, 2025, at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell LA 70460 at 10AM.
