Eskrine Waters Sr. Obituary

Erskine Waters, Sr. departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home in New Orleans, LA. He was 67 years old and a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Erskine Waters, Sr. was born on October 30, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Frank James Waters, Sr. and Lillie Mae Hunnicutt Waters.  He was the youngest of six children. In his early years he attended Ephesus Jr. Academy in New Orleans and later attended Booker T. Washington Senior High School.

Erskine, Sr. was a U.S. Veteran, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 where he received an honorable discharge. In the Army, he served as a Radio Relay & Carrier Attendant. He received the National Defense Service & Marksman Medal. Upon returning home he found employment with Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the Holt Cemetery. He was a very skillful artist, he enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing dominoes.

He is survived by his children Byron C. (Laurie) Landry, Sr., Zarita Antoinette Landry of San Antonio, Texas; Latrice Shontaye (Henry) Williams, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Derrick Lynch of Baton Rouge, LA, Ericka Landry of Manassas, Virginia, Kenyon (Crystal Cage) Etienne, Sr. of Conyers, Ga. and Erskine Waters, Jr. (20) Grandchildren: Ashleigh Landry, Brittani Landry, Tarranicka Landry, Jennifer Williams, Byron C. Landry, Jr., Jasper Jone’ Landry, Taylor Monet Landry, Ashton Preston Landry, Nicholas Landry, Henry Williams, III, Kashiel Etienne, Trinance Nannette Batiste, Maranda Helen Batiste, Derrick Lynch, Jr., Keshayla Cage, Kimaja Cage, Ki’Yonna Cage, Kenyon Etienne, Jr., Kaleigha Cage, Kevon Cage,  and 8 Great-grandchildren: Maya, Brandon, Jaydon, Autumn, Xzavier, Jordyn, Milanni and Josiah.

He is also survived by a sister Alice W. Verrett of San Antonio, Texas and two brothers: Horace Waters of San Antonio, Texas and Timothy James Waters of New Orleans, LA. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents the late Frank James Waters, Sr. and Lillie Mae Hunnicut Waters. Sisters: Lolita W. Davis and Marilyn “Mamie” W.K. Mc Cline; brother, Frank James Waters, Jr., brother-n-law, George Mc Cline, one daughter and one great-grandson, Mikell Daggs.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life services on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Robinson Family Funeral Home located at 9611 LA – 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037, at 11 a.m.  The limited visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Reverend Curtis Carroll will be officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell, LA 70460, at 9 a.m.  Due to COVID – 19 restrictions family and friends unable to attend the services can view the livestream service on Zoom.  Meeting ID: 535 980 5227.    

Due to COVID – 19, EVERYONE in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering, and practice social distancing at all times.
