Erica Allison Bilbo

Erica Allison Bilbo, born to Bernard Bilbo and Shirley Simms, the youngest of four departed this life on Friday, September 8th, 2023, at Ochsner Hospital Main Campus.  She was 60 years old. She was baptized at an early age by Rev. Noily Paul Sr., at Saint Rose Missionary Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member that transitioned to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church after Hurricane Katrina.

Erica graduated from O. Perry Walker Senior High School in 1980. She worked at Southern University at New Orleans for over 25 years and attended classes there which earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Entrepreneurship as well as her Master’s degree in Computer Science. Erica was a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Erica leaves to cherish her memories one daughter: Jessica Bilbo-DeGruy, one brother: Bernard Bilbo (Robin), 3 sisters: Evelyn Simmons (Lucas), Emelda Bess, Dywone Brooks (Sam). 3 uncles: Leon Carey (Marjorie), John Carey (Rebecca), Lionel Jones, one aunt Bertha King (Jessie), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bernard Bilbo, Shirley Simms, and Roland Simms grandparents: Adele Robinson, Leon Carey Sr, Evelyn Jackson, Bernard Bilbo Sr, and Earl Jackson.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service in Erica's honor, which will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 701 Huey P. Long Avenue, Gretna, LA 70053.  The service will begin at 10 a.m.  Pastor Terry L. Robinson officiating, and the repast will immediately follow the service.    

Interment will be privately held.
