Emma Brown was born on October 2, 1941, in Utica, Mississippi, as the third of 14 children to Stephen Miller, Sr. and Ruth Smith Miller, both of whom preceded her in death. She began her formal education in the Copiah and Hinds County school systems, graduating from Hinds Agricultural High School in Utica, MS, in 1960. Emma continued her studies at Campbell Junior College in Jackson, MS, furthering her academic pursuits.
Emma peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home in the early morning hours of December 14, 2024, at Ochsner Medical Center in Gretna, Louisiana, surrounded by her loved ones.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 61 years, Albert Brown, Sr.; children: Patricia Brown, Albert (Eleanor) Brown, Jr., Tyrone (Rhonda) Brown, Eric (Rose) Brown, and Trenese Ennis; grandchildren: Jared, Tashie, Tashica, Juanita, Trashonda, Eric Jr., Jamar, Elijah, Mikayla, and Madison; and five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers: Sterling (Earlene) Miller, Roger (Cora) Miller, and Joseph (Betty) Miller; sisters: Lucy Miller, Gracie Wilson, Juanita Miller, Doris (Robert) Kaigler, Josephine (Leroy) Bourgeois, and Evelyn Rounds; brothers-in-law: Lee (Dorothy) Brown and Larry Townsend; sisters-in-law: Joycelyn Miller, Ruth Miller, and Sara Anthony; aunts: Loretta Ware, Fannie Smith and Betty Robinson; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Life Center Cathedral located at 2100 Ames Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072. The visitation start will begin at 9 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Bishop J.Douglas Wiley officiating and interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale, La.
