Elaine Johnson Jones

Elaine Johnson Jones entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 31, 2025 at the age of 71.
Elaine was a native of Harvey, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. She was a former member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was baptized by the late Clarence Ellis Brooks, Sr. She later placed her membership at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Keith P. Stewman.
She was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and matriculated at Nicholls State University. She worked untirelessly at Hope Haven, Belle Chasse State School for more than 40 years and Padua Community Services where she retired from.
Her early and strong Christian foundation prepared her for a lifetime of service to the Lord. She served faithfully as Women's Day Chairperson and was an active member of the Senior Steppers Ministry. An eloquent speaker, Elaine loved sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and offering words of ecouragement to others. She was also a devoted member Queen Esther Chapter #33, Order of Eastern Star. She served diligently in ministry until her health no longer allowed her to.
Elaine loved the Lord, her family, Pastor and church family. In addition to loving the Lord, she also loved to dress fashionably often accessorized with her beautiful large hats, rhinestone eyewear and blinged walking cane.
She is proceeded in death by her mother, Margaret (Yankee) Smith Johnson, her father Ernest Johnson, maternal grandparents (Hilda Johnson Smith and Albertha Carey), paternal grandparents Peter Smith and Mose Johnson, sister, Rosalind (Miss Moe) Johnson; niece, Avery Johnson; Uncles: Clifford, Mose, Alvin, Hebert and Percy Johnson; aunts: Beatrice Johnson, Bessie Coleman, Noami Riggins and Sarafine Atkins.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memory a loving family, devoted friends, and a host of church and community members whose lives she touched. She leaves to cherish her memories, 1 sister, Gail (Kenneth) Johnson, and 2 brothers, Chris (Monique) Johnson and Patrick (Oasis) Johnson. Her 2 uncles: Joseph (Cassandra) Burkes, Jr. and Edward (Martha) Johnson. Her 6 aunts: Olivia (Lionel) Trim, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Thelma, Ruby and Sandra Johnson. 10 nieces: Treshawn, Keshawn, Jonquelle, Jacoby, Christie, Monique, Myrion, Taylor, China and Raven Johnson. 6 nephews: Brian Jackson, Kaleb, Tory (Kellie), Nigel, Josiah and Johann Johnson. Goddaughter, Destine George. Devoted friends:
Tyrone Smith, Donya Lynn Gibson-Bazile and Goldie. She is also remembered with love by a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.


Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Evening Star Baptist Church located at 817 Grefer Street Harvey, LA 70058. The visitation will begin at 9 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman officiating and interment will follow at Evening Star Baptist Church Cemetery.
