Edward Joseph Jones Jr.

Edward Joseph “Grilled Cheesed” Jones Jr. departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2018 at his home in Algiers surrounded by his loved ones. He would have turned 83 years old on today, September 2, 2018.  He was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans La., and a retired cab driver for White Fleet Cab Company.  Beloved son of the late Edward Joseph Jones Sr. and Ethel Freeman.  Devoted longtime companion of Lula Edwards.  Father of Edward (Vivian) Bernard, Reginald (Regina) Bernard, Eddie Bernard, John Bernard, Jajuara LaDay and the late Isaac Bernard.  Stepfather of Sylvester (Gail), Perry (Paulette), Billy (Deongelas) Edwards, Miranda Edwards (late Fredrick) Leonard and Luvone (Bernard) Perry.  Brother of Joyce (Yulbritton) Collins, Emelda Pierre, and the late Clarence (Laura) Robertson and Dorothy Moore.  Step grandfather of Contrina, Rosalyn, Paul, Billy, Michael (Janelle) and Chentee Edwards, Lashonda (Jerome) Salaam, Perry Jones, Tatanisha (August) Jackson, Bernard and Kimberly Perry.  Godfather of Gloria Moore. 

Deceased also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.  

Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor officers and members of Life Center Cathedral, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, New Genesis Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, and employees of White Fleet Cab Company, Jencare, and concerned care hospice are all invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Greater St. Mary Baptist Church located at 1533 Horace Street New Orleans La. 70114 at 10 a.m.   Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Reverend Timothy Moore officiating.  Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery Avondale La.
