Eddie Camese Obituary

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

The Life and Legacy

Eddie Camese, Jr., lovingly known to those close to him as "Tubby," peacefully departed this life on Friday, February 6, 2026. Surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and family, he transitioned from this life to his heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him. He was 68 years old.
Eddie was born on August 6, 1957, to the late Eddie Camese, Sr. and Betty Jane Harrell Camese. He was a native of New Orleans and later made his home in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, where he was known and loved by many.
On July 24, 2009, Eddie was joined in Holy Matrimony to his beloved and devoted wife, Sheila Turner Camese, whom he absolutely adored and cherished with all his heart. He was the proud and loving father of Eddie Camese III (Morgan). Through marriage to Sheila, Eddie was blessed to embrace the role of a loving stepfather to Charles Williamson (Morrow), Monique Ragas-Sylve, Tabitha Powell (Anthony) and Hershell Ragas. Eddie had a loving and cherished bond with his siblings, Patricia Carpenter (Nathaniel), Lisa Brown, David (Myra) and Steven Camese, Keeysha Camese Southall (Byron), and the late Nathaniel and Wanda Camese. He was the loving and dedicated grandfather of Brayden, Payton, Camdyn, Breanna, Kendrick, Jr., Kenan, Collin, Cameron, Caleb, Vaughnsha, Charles, Dertell, Kaylin, and Jazlin. He was the brother-in-law of Verna Ragas, Mary Parker, Althea Pepper (Michael) Myra Manuel (Alton), Lorraine, Vincent (Deborah) and the late Victor Turner. Eddie was the proud Godfather of Jeane' and Saley Johnson, Kryshun Freeman, and Shantell Murdock. Eddie shared a special close friendship with Marty Griffin.
Eddie's life was a powerful reflection of his steadfast faith in God. He was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church in Ironton, Louisiana by Rev. Willie Watts, III. As a devoted member of Greater Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Dr. Darnell Smith, Sr., with unwavering dedication, Eddie faithfully served on the Deacon Board, attended Thursday night bible classes and Sunday Worship service. His commitment reflected the deep meaning behind his favorite hymn, "My Soul is Anchored in the Lord,"
Eddie thoroughly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Always stepping out looking like he just finished a photo shoot with GQ Magazine, Eddie loved dancing. He was so light on his feet at times it seemed as though he was floating, very smooth. His enthusiasm for life led him to enjoy traveling, seeing and exploring new adventures. Like others Eddie was a die-hard Saints fan, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty and pride.
Eddie was a graduate of John McDonogh High School. After graduating, he went on to further his education at Louisiana State University. Eddie's love of service lead him to a 42 year of law enforcement. Within those 42 years, Eddie was the first African American to be employed as Warden in the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Office. With a yearning to want to learn more about God and enhance his spiritual growth, Eddie went on the enroll and graduate from Christian Baptist College.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memories and will be sadly missed by his loving wife, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one brother, and one sister.
