Dorothy Lee James Smith (Aunt Dot) was born on September 30,1936 but she always celebrated her birthday on August 12th. She was the second of four siblings. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended school in Tylertown, Ms. She loved going to the Casino. If you couldn't find her at home best believe you would find her at the casino.
Dorothy was the wife of the late Joseph Howard Smith. She was the daughter of the Late Odell James Sr and Willie Mae Gaines James. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister Ora Dee Smith, her care giver/niece Willie Dean Smith Encalade (Leroy). Bonus children, Dominque (Mimie) Harper Due', Casey (Paul) Due' Hackney, Monique Nicole Due' her children Jesse, Jake, Celete, and Gala., J.P DeGravelles, Andrew and Michael (Gordon)Miller. God sons Jasper Smith and Frank Williams. God daughter's Julie and Shell James. Her good friends Mrs. Genny Due', Mr. Robert Patterson, Mr. Roosevelt Selvages, Mr. Donald Ray and Mrs. Cindy Brouillette of Baton Rouge. Her neighbor Mrs. Carolyn Bajoie. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Howard Smith, her parents Odell James Sr and Willie Mae Gaines James, her brother Odell James Jr, her sister Sarah Barbara James-Laird, her three niece's- Deborah Larid-Martin, Barbara Ann Smith, and Danielle Davis, 7 nephew's- Peter, Ray Sr, Ray Jr, Ryjhoun Smith, Eric, Rickey Sr and Ricky Jr Laird, and her bonus children parents, father-Paul Due' and mother Genevieve Barfield Due'.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Robinson Family Funeral Home 9611 La - 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037. The visitation will begin at 9 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Terry Nash, officiating and interment will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memories in Baton Rouge, LA.
