Doreatha Taylor-Marshall, 69, of New Orleans, Louisiana by way of Shaw Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Jacksonville Florida with her family by her side.
She was born to Edna Mae Garner and the late Quinton Taylor on October 21, 1953, in Shaw Mississippi. Doreatha graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville Mississippi before attending Mississippi Delta Community College, earning a Licensing of Practical Nursing degree. She spent 25 plus years practicing in various roles of nursing, although bedside nursing was her passion. The interaction with patients allowed her to show her compassion in providing personal care to them and fulfilling her desire to provide exceptional care.
She leaves behind to cherish the memories of her to her mother Edna Mae Garner, three children: Abom (Trina) Taylor, Terrilyn Taylor, and Nicholas Marshall, three grandchildren Collin and Amari Taylor and Mayson Fernandes. She Raised two children as her own, Travis Garner and Nikki Scott. She is also survived by four Brothers, Frank Garner, Julius Rainey Sr., Kenneth Rainey, and Prince Garner and one sister Edna J. Garner. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-laws whom she dearly loved.
Doreatha was predeceased by a brother and sister, Charlie J Garner (Late Molly Robinson-Garner) and Jacqueline J Garner, and nephew Timothy Garner.
Doreatha loved everyone within her family. If you were a friend or someone who she became close to, you became one of her own. Whether it was a son/daughter or brother/sister she loved you and you were a part of the family. She loved to cook and never let anyone leave her home with an empty stomach. She was an avid DIY'er so much that she could tell you where everything was in Home Depot.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, May 20, 2023, 9-11 am at the Krewe of Athena Headquarters, 2010 Woodmere Blvd Ste., Harvey, Louisiana 70058. Rev. Jordan La' Vell Robinson Sr. officiating. A repast will immediately follow the service.
